Tesla Model Y has been launched in India in two variants:
- Rear Wheel Drive RWD: Price ₹59.89 lakh, Range 500 km, 0 to 100 kmph in just 5.9 seconds.
- Long Range RWD: Price ₹67.89 lakh, Range 622 km, 0 to 100 kmph in just 5.6 seconds.
Both variants come in 6 colours and two interior options All Black and Black plus White which is ₹95,000 extra. There is also a Full Self Driving option which can be added separately for ₹6 lakh. Overall, it is a premium customisable and futuristic package.

Blend of design, comfort and technology
The interior of the Tesla Model Y is minimalist and modern. A 15.4-inch touchscreen is centrally placed on the dashboard, which controls almost all the features of the car. There is also an 8-inch screen for the rear passengers, which keeps the entertainment going.
The car gets premium features like glass roof, ventilated seats, wireless charging, ambient lighting. Safety features include multiple airbags, automatic braking, blind-spot alert, and Tesla’s famous Dashcam and Sentry Mode.
Currently imported performance
The Model Y is currently fully imported from China, which attracts heavy taxes, about 70% import duty and a separate luxury tax. The car that costs around $45,000 in the US is available in India for around ₹ 68 lakh.
Tesla currently has no manufacturing plans in India, but it is expected that local production may start in the future. Currently, four charging stations are operational in Mumbai and preparations are underway for expansion in cities like Delhi and Gurgaon.
